This site is published by a private individual, acting in a personal and non professional capacity. It is not a company, not a trade body, not a public authority and not a registered charity, and it carries out no commercial activity of any kind.

Hosting

The site is a set of static HTML files served through a commercial content delivery network. There is no server side application, no database, no login and no user account. Hosting infrastructure providers keep their own technical access logs under their own policies, and the publisher has no control over those.

What the content is

Everything on this site is general information about home fire safety, written for a United States audience and summarised from publicly available guidance published by standards bodies, federal agencies and national organisations. It is not professional advice.

• It is not a substitute for the instructions supplied with your own equipment, which always take precedence over anything written here.
• It is not a substitute for the fire code and housing rules in force where you live, which vary by state and by city.
• It is not medical, legal or engineering advice, and it does not create any professional relationship.
• It cannot assess any particular building, and no page should be read as an assurance that a home is safe.

The information is provided without warranty of any kind, express or implied. The publisher accepts no liability for any loss or damage arising from the use of, or reliance on, anything published here. In an emergency in the United States, call 911.

Privacy

• No cookies are set by this site.
• No analytics, tracking pixels, tag managers or advertising scripts are used. There is no JavaScript loaded from any third party, and no third party fonts, images or stylesheets: every file the pages need is served from this domain.
• There is no contact form, no comment section, no newsletter and no account, so no personal data is collected through the site itself.
• Email sent to the contact address is stored in an ordinary mailbox, used only to answer or to correct a page, never added to any list, and never sold, shared or passed to a third party. It is deleted when it is no longer needed.
• No personal data about visitors is sold, shared or otherwise disclosed, because none is gathered.

Requests concerning any email you have sent, including a request to delete it, go to the contact address above.

Outbound links

Some pages link to standards bodies, federal agencies and national organisations, because being able to check a claim at source is the point. Those sites are outside the publisher's control. A link is not an endorsement of everything on the site linked to, and the publisher is not responsible for their content, their availability or their own privacy practices.

Text, design and names

The text and the page design are the work of the site's editor and may not be republished in bulk. Short quotation with a link to the page quoted is fine and needs no permission.

Standard designations, laboratory marks and organisation names mentioned on these pages, such as those of standards bodies and testing laboratories, are used only to identify the standards and the certifications they refer to.
